Green design for change
As graphic designers we are wired to be message makers. When it comes to our personal and professional impact at Greener Graphics, we choose to be agents of change. This can be a daunting task in a world that has one foot in the traditional arts, and the other in developing media. At Greener Graphics we have a firm grounding in experience but are forever learning and evolving in our practice of green design.
Over the past 20 years we’ve worked with some amazing clients. Our clients include non-profits and value based companies, like Wildlifelines, the Life Tools Forum, EMS Films, Greenpeace, Dutch Maritime Productions and the European Association of Zoos.
Great communication, a dedication to our clients’ needs and attention to detail have formed long lasting relationships. Working closely with you, we will transform your ideas into elegant, engaging and functional solutions. It is our goal to help you strategise about how to build a strong brand, craft communications that resonate with your target audience, and minimise the impact that all of this has on our planet. Maybe even helping it heal a bit while we’re at it. We look forward to working with you.
We would not hesitate to recommend Greener Graphics and see them as a key partner in our business.

Why do we need green sustainability in design?
Did you know that the size, shape, colour, printing style and paper type used for your graphic project all have an impact on its ecological footprint? And did you also know the same goes for the web host, speed, size and even background colour of every website you visit?
The graphic industry’s problem goes beyond the obvious paper choice and wastage. Because of the increased demand vegetable oils were quickly replaced by petroleum as the base for printing inks, leading to offset printing using more than three million tons of hydrocarbon-based inks and chemicals every year, releasing large quantities of greenhouse gases including carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
A more recent form of pollution comes in the form of carbon emissions produced by cooling facilities in data centres. They account for a staggering 2% of the world’s total, which is equivalent to the airline industry.
The exact extent of the carbon footprint we’re all personally responsible for might not be the easiest thing to ascertain, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be aware of it and try to minimise the impact as much as possible. Graphic and web design are clearly no exceptions, which is why eco friendly green design works with the environment in mind.
